I am short...5'3" and wanted boots that were not to the knee. These boots are great to wear casually. The quality of the leather is soft and I feel will improve with age. I wore them initially to an all day festival in Charleston and walked everywhere with no problems. I have thin calves and the boots fit perfectly. I really like the suede insert...it visually adds flair.
